OCC is chartered under Barbershop Harmony Society
Beginning as a men's singing organization for the preservation and enjoyment of barbershop singing in  America.  Now in existence since 1938.  An international organization preserving barbershop music as an art form, holding over 100,000 comprising 750,000 sheets of music.  Performance of Barbershop music is preserved and improved by the society though annual international and regional competitions.  In June of 2018 the society expanded membership with an invitation for women to join.  This chorus adheres to the philosophy that music improves lives and closes each chapter meeting with a song.  A song titled  "Keep the Whole World Singing.

Old Capitol Chorus meets year around. Our meeting place is Robert A Lee Recreation Center of Iowa City.  We've been meeting for 56 years.  We've performed in many venues here in Iowa City/Coralville.  We've traveled all over the Midwest as a chorus representing the accomplished musical traditions in this area.  Performing for local houses of worship, care facilities, hospitals, private invitations, restaurants, grand openings and to many others to mention.  Valentine season and our annual entertainment show are a couple of our long lasting and favorite performing opportunities.

We are a non profit Community Music Organization open to men and women singers.
We thank those who supported our mission through their donations.
You can support us by donating, spreading the word and inviting us to sing.
The chorus has had many supporters throughout the years and we thank them.
